How to Throw the Perfect Mother’s Day Brunch

In case you forgot, let us remind you that Mother’s Day is just around the corner! And there’s no better way to celebrate all the wonderful moms out there than by hosting your own Mother’s Day Brunch. Not only does hosting a brunch alleviate much of the stress of dealing with overbooked restaurants trying to cram in a few too many celebrations, but it allows you to have a much more intimate, relaxing affair. And as all the moms out there know, a little relaxation is all we really need!

Thankfully, planning a Mother’s Day Brunch is a lot easier than it seems. To get you started, we’ve put together some of our top tips into one handy guide:

Pick a Theme

Every good party starts with a good theme, and your Mother’s Day Brunch should be no different. Will it be a casual pajama breakfast? An elegant “Sunday Best” high tea and sandwiches? Think about the mom or moms that will be in attendance, and what style of party they would most enjoy. This is, after all, their special day!

While the star of brunch in undoubtedly the food (well…and the mimosas!), don’t forget the importance of décor in planning your celebration. Depending on your theme, brunch décor can be as simple as adding in some floral elements, which build on the feeling of Spring that Mother’s Day brings around.

One fun idea is to create a separate bouquet for each of the moms that will be in attendance, and include a few of their favorite types of flowers (if possible). This way each mom gets a special pop of color to enjoy throughout the brunch, and they can take the bouquet home with them to enjoy for days to come!

Plan the Menu

The key to any good brunch is variety, so be sure to leave plenty of time to plan and prep your Mother’s Day Brunch menu. While there are no hard and fast rules, one easy way to think about what you’re going to serve is to hit the “5 Brunch Staples”:

  • A Fruit Dish (fruit salad, yogurt parfait with berries)
  • A Carb Dish (muffins, french toast)
  • A Green Dish (kale salad, mixed greens with poached eggs)
  • A Meat/Egg Dish (breakfast casserole, steak and egg scramblers)
  • A Sweet Dish (cakes, maple candy)

With at least one dish in each of these categories, your menu will be sure to please all of your guests!

Of course, what’s brunch without drinks?! Be sure to have the basic brunch juices on hand (orange, apple, etc.), as well as chilled champagne for any moms or dads looking to kick back and relax a little bit extra on this special Sunday.

To alleviate some of your hosting duties, set up a self-serve coffee station right before guests arrive, allowing them to help themselves, and keeping you free to finish up in the kitchen!

Create a Special Activity for Mom

While there is no doubt the moms at your celebration will love the great food and the great company, since Mother’s Day comes but once a year, go the extra mile and plan some sort of mom-themed activity for after brunch.

Maybe it’s a highlight reel of some of your favorite mom home movies growing up. Or perhaps a “Mom Award Show”, where the kids and grandkids present the moms with awards that highlight just how special they are, and how much they are loved!

Leave a Lasting Memory with Party Favors and Charms

Of course, there will come a point when it’s time for everyone to say goodbye and head back home. However, this doesn’t mean you can’t keep the memory of the party alive for years to come. A thoughtful, tasteful party favor is a great way to remind mom of her special day.

Our customizable wine charms and hair ties are the perfect “little something” to send mom home with, and a sure fire way for her to hold onto the memory of the fun Mother’s Day brunch for years to come.
